Our Commitment

Beachside Scoops is committed to making beachsideicecream.com accessible to the widest possible audience, including people with disabilities. We believe everyone should be able to browse our menu, find our hours, and get directions to the shop, regardless of ability or the technology they use.

Conformance Status

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. These guidelines, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), explain how to make web content more accessible for people with a wide range of disabilities. The Site is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA, meaning most content conforms to the standard, and we continue working to address any areas that do not.

Measures We Take

Accessibility was considered throughout the design and development of the Site. Measures include:

• Semantic HTML structure with a logical heading order and labeled landmarks
• A skip link so keyboard users can jump directly to the main content
• Visible keyboard focus indicators on all interactive elements
• Color combinations chosen to meet WCAG contrast requirements for text
• Text alternatives for meaningful images, with decorative graphics hidden from assistive technology
• Respect for the "reduced motion" preference, which disables animations such as the photo carousel's automatic scrolling
• Touch targets sized for easy use on mobile devices
• A responsive layout that supports zoom and a wide range of screen sizes

Known Limitations

Despite our efforts, some content may have accessibility limitations:

• Embedded third-party content. The Site includes an embedded Google map and links to third-party platforms such as DoorDash, Facebook, and Instagram. We do not control the accessibility of third-party content or websites. If the embedded map presents difficulty, our full address and a phone number are provided as text on the Site, and directions are available by phone.
• Photographs. Some gallery photos are decorative in nature; we work to keep alternative text useful and current as photos change.
